Do I need the new assessment?
If you are directly involved with the recovery or handling of fluorinated gases including R134a, the refrigerant used in automotive A/C Systems, then the answer is YES.
When do I need it by?
After the 4th of July 2010 only personnel that have passed the assessment will be considered as qualified to take delivery, handle and recover F-gases.
I already have qualification, will that cover me after July 4th 2010?
The only qualification recognised will be those that meet the latest requirements set out by the government and adopted by IMI Awards which meets the European Union regulation EC 842 and EC 307.
What does the assessment cover?
To protect the environment the technician will need to demonstrate that:
A. Can recover refrigerant from a vehicle air conditioning system with minimum emissions.
B. They know how to handle and dispose of recovered refrigerant.
C. They can demonstrate correct operation of recovery equipment.

The cost of the courses are
1. £195 + VAT at Alpinair training centre.
2. £225 + VAT at your premises is £225 + VAT for 1st candidate, then £195 + VAT for subsequent candidate.
